Can you believe the holidays are right around the corner? Now’s the time to start thinking about family time, travel plans, and gift ideas!

How do you feel about the holidays? More importantly… how do you WANT to feel?

I know from personal experience and from so many of the women in my life that managing our wellness goals during the holidays can cause a lot of stress and anxiety – even months before.

This should be a time of joy and merry-making, but many of us break out in a sweat just thinking about those things. Why is it that we feel so stressed at this time of year?

I think it’s because the holidays are wrapped up in so much emotion. We have all kinds of memories, feelings, and hidden beliefs that can get triggered at this time of year.

And many of us find ourselves over-eating and over-indulging just to get through it. Yikes! That’s a recipe for disaster!

But the thought of doing something different can feel impossible too. I get it.

What do you say we change it up and do things differently? If you end up feeling guilty, defeated, or the furthest thing from merry every year, then it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate what’s working for you and what’s not when it comes to the holidays. Let’s take control of our emotions and clear those old patterns, so we can get through the holidays with ease while respecting our wellness goals.

And hopefully avoid an over-indulging disaster.

Here are 3 holiday stressors that may be preventing you from finding peace during the holidays and some helpful ideas for turning them around.

Holiday Stressor #1 – Old Family Drama

Often we have old family drama that comes up at this time of year. Unspoken hurts and unresolved resentments can have us dreading spending time with family. Many would just as soon be alone than have to put themselves through all that drama.

What to do about it

Well, you could just stay away. And sometimes that’s the best thing to do for yourself. A healthier suggestion is to book a ThetaHealing session with me before those family visits to clear any hurts or hidden resentments. I cannot tell you how much ThetaHealing has helped me work through my own family issues and to find peace and contentment. If you’re curious about ThetaHealing then grab my Beginner’s Guide to ThetaHealing and learn how ThetaHealing can help clear the limiting beliefs that may be secretly sabotaging you.

My other favourite go-to for ditching the family drama is journaling and in particular, writing unsent letters. Get it all down on the page without worrying what the other person thinks or feels, because here’s the thing . . . they’re never going to read it! [Hint: Although you may be tempted, you’re really not meant to send these letters. Use them as your own healing tool.] And for extra impact, have your own burning ceremony where you release your anger, pain, or resentment as you watch the ashes and smoke drift away.

Holiday Stressor #2 – Ignoring our own needs

Being the generous, loving beings that we are, we tend to put others needs first . . . our family, our boss, our pets, our job . . . you name it. You may find that you’re stressed, overloaded, and not looking after yourself.

What to do about it

It’s time for you to make yourself a priority and take some well-deserved time for yourself. You’ll be a better person for it and you’ll feel better when you take back your life. Well, you may not completely get your life back, but at least you can put yourself at the front of the line.

Take a soothing bath with a calming blend of essential oils like Frankincense and Lavender. Get these and other calming essential oils here. If you have to, lock yourself in the bathroom to get the me-time you need. Your sanity will thank you.

Holiday Stressor #3 – Overeating

You struggle to stick to your wellness plans (food, fitness, self-care, etc.) because there are unhealthy snacks and treats everywhere you turn.

What to do about it

Embrace intuitive eating. Don’t know what that is? Intuitive eating is the practice of trusting your body to help you decide what to eat. An anti-diet approach to wellness, it involves tuning in to your body’s needs and respecting them. Intuitive eating is not a free-for-all where you eat whatever you want, in whatever quantity, regardless of how it makes you feel. It’s all about honouring your hunger, trusting your body, and eating to fuel and nourish your body. It’s the ultimate form of self-care.

Start the New Year Off Right!

Start 2020 off with a bang and headed in the direction of your DREAMS!

Let’s kick off 2020 with a VISION BOARD WORKSHOP PARTY . . . where you’ll get the space to envision your dreams and create a vision board that will effortlessly attract your desires! I’m super excited to bring this fun, powerful, nourishing workshop to Victoria! It will open up doors that you didn’t even know existed!

As someone who has made my own vision boards (and manifested some amazing results!) I’ve learned that it’s more than just slapping some pictures onto a poster board. It’s about first getting clear on your desires, letting go of what’s in the way, and then connecting with your dreams while designing a vision that calls to you.

It’s on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 1-4 p.m. upstairs at the Helmcken Quality Foods Community Meeting Space in Victoria.

During our fun afternoon together, you’ll get:

  • Clarity on what you really desire (no more settling for someone else’s dreams!)
  • Breathing space and dream time to map out your desires in any area of your life (the very thing you keep telling yourself you’ll give yourself but never do. Right?)
  • Freedom to get out of your head and more connected with your heart and soul (cuz that’s where the really good stuff is!)
  • Connection with like-minded women (we’re all connected after all!)
  • A method to clear out the “gunk” that naturally arises (it’s time to let it go!)

Everyone will go home with their own vision board and after you’ll receive your VISIONING PLAYBOOK with additional insights, resources, activities and more to help you make the most of your new vision board.

No preparation necessary, just show up ready to have FUN and be NOURISHED!

There’s no better gift you could give yourself this holiday season than the gift of your dreams and desires!

Bring a friend, your mother, your daughter, your sister, your cousin . . . make it a GIRLS’ DAY!

Cost: $47 per person (pre-payment is required to hold your seat; message me if you wish to pay by e-transfer)
